Job Title IT and Finance Performance Analyst

Location: Bolton or Ipswich

Day rate: Negotiable

Key Accountable:

Support the IT Performance Manager and the IT Performance team by driving forward a broad range of initiatives including cost control; measuring departmental efficiency; quality of governance; GDPR compliance and Software Asset Management

Contribute to regular financial reforecasting of the IT costs base. Develop and execute the Forecast Plan by taking end-to-end ownership of individual stories. Undertaking stakeholder reporting against the plan during the Forecasting period. Producing executive reports of how the new plan compares to the previous one.Contribute towards detailed planning and re-planning of Strategic programmes:Engage with Delivery to prompt the setting of the next year's workforce plan; enumerate the cost by producing resultant Day Rate cards for ServiceNow teamAnalyse and Control all accruals in preparation for month-end analysis, using agreed SAP naming conventions;Conduct plan cf actuals analysis against all main sources of costs (payroll; contractor bills; Purchase Orders; Intra Group charges) to provide a narrative for month-end result including similar analysis for FTE numbersUsing standard reporting templates, carry out project reporting to provide project and programme cost; planned spend schedules which highlight any areas of concern and provide options to solve.Maintain and improve an IT Costs Model, which contains a full list of all people, licences, services, re-charges and intra-company costs. Also maintain / develop the MI aspects of the Costs Model, which provides info of costs per application; currency risk; BAU / Project costs; etc;Providing data analysis to the Performance Manager projects and initiatives which aid understanding of the IT cost base via analysis of trends, tax changes, pipeline issues and 'what if' analysis. Initiatives include ITEB (IT Expense Benchmarking); Corporation Tax mitigation via R&D relief claim; and Global Security Spend reporting.Interact with the ATR process to provide value-adding advice to support IT line managers acquiring the people they need, whilst maintaining us on-plan for headcount and budgetLeading on providing answers to projects and initiatives which aid understanding of the IT cost base via analysis of trends, tax changes, pipeline issues and 'what if' analysis. Initiatives include ITEB (IT Expense Benchmarking); Corporation Tax mitigation via R&D relief claim; and Global Security Spend reporting.To assist Performance Manager ensure IT's ongoing commitment to demonstrate to the company our non-application data storage is being undertaken in ways which place us legally compliant with GDPR.

Measures:
  • Good financial management within agreed budgets is evident
  • Information systems are in line (e.g. Ledger)
  • Changes to the budget are auditable
  • Positive feedback from stakeholders
  • Ensures that as projects are approved & changes approved that the funds are available and moved in the relevant systems
  • Project Financial Plans are produced to appropriate standards
  • Supports the agreed resource strategy, timesheet compliance, correct recharges
  • Data quality issues with resource profiles are escalated to the programme and resource managers
  • Positive feedback from related functions and customers including performance indicators being in place with positive trends
  • IT Performance is recognised as a source of best practice for IT with best practice being imported from other areas with positive feedback from stakeholders
  • All reporting produced in a timely and consistent manner to agreed quality standards ensuring that all data is correct.

Skills & Experience

Skills & Experience
  • Educated to at least A level standard, or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in an IT and / or Finance environment
  • Good understanding of best practice including budget control, resource management, change control, risk, issue, assumption and dependency management, report development and delivery
  • Advice & guidance skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Office products, particularly Excel with an ability to create and manage medium complexity spreadsheet solutions
  • Data management and principles experience, having delivered data quality improvements
  • Proven ability to analyse a broad range of management information, draw conclusions and identify recommendation actions
  • Ability to follow and actively improve processes
  • Strong verbal & numeracy skills
  • Tenacity and commitment to deliver objectives
  • Adaptability, able to work on most tasks within the team
  • Good persuasion and influencing skills
  • Experience of working in a complex business environment, able to understand and allow for the impact of own work within the team and of outside influences
