1st & 2nd Line Support Engineer
Main Purpose of JobResponsible for supporting and maintaining client computer systems, servers, printers & scanners, and network equipment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment as needed while ensuring optimal performance. The IT Technician will also be the front-line support for all user queries whilst maintaining the helpdesk function.Key Result Areas• To provide a 1st & 2nd line support for all users. Taking ownership of user problems and being pro-active when dealing with user issues.
• To use the in-house helpdesk system to prioritise and respond to user support requests ensuring that every effort is made to meet support targets.
• To carry out execution of change management requests as required (which does include out of hours work)
• Installation, maintenance and support of IT equipment including (but not restricted to) laptops, telecoms equipment, printers, scanners, workstations & servers.
• To ensure that work is carried out to a high standard and complies with the companies health & safety requirements.
• Monitor and manage the protection of supported systems, including but not limited to antivirus and backup
• Asset and Inventory management including checks / audits in line with company standards.
• Creation and maintenance of user logon accounts, access control / permissions,
• The decommissioning and disposal of obsolete equipment and the roll out of new IT equipment and systems.
• Administration and Support of Third party & bespoke in-house software with varying basic programming knowledge.
• Establishing good relationships with all departments and colleagues.
• The training of staff where appropriate, in the use of hardware and software.
• Proactively drive your own workload, have the ability work under own initiative identify and drive through opportunities for improvement / change.
• Managing technical documentation.
Knowledge• A familiarity with computer hardware, operating systems, office suites & applications, Linux/Unix, TCP/IP networking.
• Microsoft Windows Servers (2008 and above) and clients (Windows 10)
• Proficient at using desktop management tools, such as imaging and hardware/software inventory management.

Desirable

• Knowledge and understanding of networking protocols, Active Directory/Group policy management.
• Excellent technical knowledge of network and computer hardware, including desktop computers, laptop computers, and networked printers.
