Job description

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Management Accountant with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar sector and role.

Our client is media based group of companies situated in central London, including two film distribution companies with a catalog of over 1,000 film titles and an international sales rights company.

The role is a full time permanent basis, reporting to the Senior Accountant, with a start date of early to mid-September 2019.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an eager Management Accountant keen to work in the media sector and learn about the film and media sector, whilst taking full accounting control of the companies accounts preparation with verity of tasks ranging from assisting on bookkeeping duties working through to the preparation of the monthly management accounts as well as annual audits.

This role will also include the training and supervision of an accounts assistant.

• Assisting in preparation of the monthly management accounts

• Assisting in the preparation of monthly cashflows and profit and loss re-forecasting

• Assisting in the preparation of the annual budgets and monitoring variations

• Assisting in the preparation of the year-end accounts and assist with the annual audits

• Working on balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss analysis

• Variation analysis reports to be incorporated into the management accounts packs

• Prepare the monthly management accounts packs ready for submission for the monthly board meetings

• Royalty reporting to 3rd parties for both international sales as well as UK distribution entities

• Processing VAT returns and annual statutory submissions

• Film library forecasting and valuations

• Training and supervision of one member of staff

• Ad hoc duties as required and assisting the Senior Accountant on reporting duties

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate the following:

• At least 2 years' experience within a similar role

• Previous experience in media preferred but not essential

• A good understanding of underlying accounting principles (matching concepts, prepayments and accruals, stock valuations, amortisation of intangibles and payables, deferred income accounting, etc)

• Experience in 3rd party royalty accounting and able to show the ability to account for payables within the accounts

• Intermediate level of Excel skills.

• Have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and able to achieve deadlines

• Should be able to demonstrate a friendly, professional and confident telephone manner

• Must be a strong team player with a very positive can do attitude and an accommodating and flexible approach

• Knowledge of Sage and Quick Books is preferred

• Great time management
