BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Working within the 'Corporate Accounting - Europe' team to meet all internal and external reporting requirements as part of the monthly, quarterly and annual cycles, as well as implementing and maintaining good governance practices over the Europe general ledgers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the execution of all aspects of the Europe corporate and statutory accounting processes, ensuring appropriate controls in accordance with Company accounting and control policies and procedures.

Responsible for preparation, posting and review of various month end journal entries as required, ensuring all accounting entries are recorded in accordance with IFRS

Key role in monthly reporting cycle - preparation of various monthly reporting packs for review and presentation to local senior finance team and ultimately submission to Group

Key role in quarterly reporting cycle - preparation of quarterly reporting packs for review by senior finance team, external auditors, local leadership team and Group

Key contact with external auditors facilitating their quarterly audit reviews

Co-ordinates / assists with activities relating to the reconciliation of the balance sheet on a quarterly basis

Prepares the annual UK statutory financial statements

Acts as the key contact for queries received from internal & external sources in relation to corporate accounting matters, including assisting with technical accounting matters/documentation as required.

Assist / lead work to harmonise Netherlands business unit general ledger following merger into one "Europe" BU, rolling out Europe wide controls and processes where required

Maintains an up to date knowledge of financial systems, relevant statutory/industry regulations, technical accounting matters and practices, etc.

Identifies & implements opportunities to improve corporate accounting systems and practice

Together with the rest of the Corporate team, responsible for supervising and guiding the assistant accountant (including review of work)

Any other ad hoc task as required

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

Essential

Relevant professional accounting qualification i.e. ICAS/CIMA/ACCA

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Essential

Proven ability to meet deadlines

Experience of all aspects of oil and gas accounting practices

Fully conversant with IFRS accounting standards

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships

Desire & ability to challenge & implement improvements to existing processes and workflows

Strong Excel skills

Self-motivated and accountable

Preferred

Previous relevant Corporate experience (e.g. interacting with auditors, statutory accounts preparation)

Post qualified experience with a background in audit or from another oil & gas operator

Knowledge of Oracle Accounting Database and Hyperion
