Interesting role for an accounts assistant looking to extend their skill base in a friendly medium size service and sales based business near Farnborough airport. Reporting to the FC you will be rresponsible for certain finance tasks, including timely and accurate sales and purchase invoice processing to meet the monthly deadlines set by the business.

My client will support study (AAT or ACCA) and is ideally looking for a progressive individual who can expand their responsibilities as the company grows. A friendly personality and strong accuracy and attention to detail are the key traits required.

Due to company growth this is a new role within the business, but there will be an additional requirement to cover the current Finance Assistant role for maternity leave in 2019. This will provide a great exposure to the business during your first few months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing and recording of client invoices, ensuring valid PO numbers have been obtained (where applicable)
  • Collation of supplier invoices, ensuring an audit trail for authorisation and passing to the Senior Finance Assistant for payment in line with due dates
  • Sending monthly statements to clients, to ensure timely payments
  • Dealing with and resolving any supplier queries e.g. invoice payment dates
  • Assisting with the production of the month-end management accounts, e.g. ensuring costs have been recorded correctly on the general ledger and posting journals/accruals where required
  • Raising monthly invoices for any inter-company trading
  • Calculating monthly sales agent commissions, and issuing invoice requests
  • Assisting with quarterly/annual statutory reporting and the year-end audit as required
  • Meeting all deadlines as stated in the monthly finance calendar
  • Ad hoc duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Good attention to detail, with accurate outputs
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Be able to confidently deal with clients and suppliers
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, with an understanding of the impact of missed deadlines on the wider team
  • Be a proficient Microsoft office user - particularly Excel
  • Sage experience preferred but not a requirement
  • Studying towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g. AAT)
