Burgess Farms (Produce World Group) Organic Division (RBOrganic) has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Technical Manager to join the team based in Peterborough (travel to other sites will be required). You will join on a full time permanent basis and be paid a highly competitive salary of up to £32,000 per annum depending on experience,plus benefits.

Burgess Farms (Produce World Group) is a privately owned business which is customer and category focused. As one of the largest expert growers of high quality fresh vegetables in Europe, we are industry leading in sustainable and responsible agronomy, growing, and lean supply chain management.

We are now looking for an Assistant Technical Manager to join us based in Peterborough, but covering other sites of the organic operation in Lincolnshire, Norfolk and occasional visits to Scotland.

Your working hours will be 08:00 - 17:00, with 60 minute unpaid break.

Key responsibilities of our Assistant Technical Manager:

- Follow the Food Safety Quality Management System in line with BRC and Customer Codes of Practice requirements.

- BRC Deputy and maintain systems in the absence of the BRC Lead.

- HACCP team member and maintain the company HACCP procedures and supporting documentation.

- Take responsibility for ensuring you are fully aware of all legislative updates and set up and manage alerts on 3rd party websites eg. Soil association, trading standards etc.

- In collaboration with the Technical Manager take an active role in the management and implementation of site QMS. Develop and improve the existing systems, ensure that the site is prepared for unannounced audits.

- Assist with customer visits. Complete any required visit reports and ensure non-conformances raised are closed out effectively within the required time scales, meet the requirements of the customer while identifying and resolving the root cause.

- Investigate and respond to rejections, complaints and issues within the required time frames for each customer, working with colleagues to identify and correct the causal issues.

- Manage any product recall /withdrawal queries received and ensure the site is fully prepared on how to deal with these instances directly raised with the site.

- Complete non-conformance & root cause analysis investigations with the site teams to ensure rejections and non-conformances are actioned and closed effectively.

- Manage the communication of customer KPI's by maintaining any scorecards, or regular communications as requested by customers or the site management team.

- Support the Technical Manager to produce monthly reporting KPIs for the senior management team and board.

- Manage and lead the site ethical audits and ensure that any SEDEX actions are completed and close within the required timescale. Complete yearly reviews and updates on systems that support central compliance team eg. Muddy boots etc

- Carry out internal audits in collaboration with the wider audit team where required to ensure independence of the audits carried out.

- Ensure the site risk assessments are completed in line with customer and audit requirements to ensure all processes and procedures are appropriate to maintain safety and legality.

Key requirements of our Assistant Technical Manager:

- Essential to hold HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 4

- High level of computer skills

- Must have flexible and positive 'can do' attitude

- Solution focused and continuous improvement driven

- Must be able to drive

- Good verbal and written English and strong numeracy skills
