The Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit located in the Middlesbrough area is searching for a Behaviour Support Worker to work within its small class groups of secondary pupils who are unable, for various reasons, to continue in mainstream education.

This role will be held on a flexible basis commencing in the new academic year, it will be ongoing until the end of the academic year and should the candidate be successful there is potential for a permanent role. The successful candidate will be available at least three days a week and will have access to their own transport.

The position will involve working with a small group of students across Key Stages 3 and 4 with varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The candidate will need to be confident in managing challenging behaviour as well as being enthusiastic and a positive role model for the students! You will be working with children from a mix of backgrounds, including children in looked after care and will be confident managing extremely challenging behaviour including aggression, oppositional defiance disorder and anxiety.

Ideally for this role, you will have experience with challenging behaviour. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds including social and youth work. You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced special needs teachers as well as specialist teaching assistants.
