Job Title: Lead Firmware Engineer
ROLE OVERVIEW

The Lead Firmware Engineer will work within the electronics team to develop and test a range appliances for a successful and growing company which preserves the original dynamic and start-up atmosphere. Work will include software development for microcontrollers and other SoC's managing the entire software life cycle, hardware/software integration and working with other businesses to bring the latest technology (IoT, AR, AI).

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead all the firmware activities (entire lifecycle) and manage other firmware engineers
Work with the Head of Electronics Engineering to execute and deliver the Innovation Master Plan
Maintain, expand and document already existing complex firmware for microcontrollers (C language)
Create new firmware platforms (C language) for microcontrollers and other SoC's allowing code reuse across projects
Work with third parties to bring the latest technology to the business portfolio. This includes IoT, AR and AI systems
Develop and tune control algorithms for optimal performance
Work with hardware engineers to research potential IC's and SoC's for new applications
Work with hardware and project engineers to ensure the appliances operate as intended and comply with the design verification plan
Investigate and solve complex functional issues
Mentor and train non-senior team members
Candidates must be prepared to travel occasionally to China, US and EU

KEY SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Ideally a qualified Lead Firmware Engineer with at least 10 years' experience and previous experience in embedded systems (microcontrollers) for high-volume consumer electronics or similar
Proven track record of developing complex software in Embedded C to a high standard (bare-metal and RTOS)
Must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of microcontrollers and best practices for embedded software development
Ability to lead a small team
Ability to communicate concisely and influence others
Ability to plan and make decisions under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
