Job Title: Design & Production Engineer
Location: Kent, commutable from: Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Edenbridge, Crowborough, East Grinstead, Horley, Redhill, Godstone, Sevenoaks, Caterhametc.
Salary: £35,000-£45,000 + Excellent Benefits

Design & Production Engineer required to join my client in Kent.

We are looking for an experienced Design & Production Engineer to join a small yet very successful engineering business in Kent. This company has seen exponential growth over the last few years and there is no sign of this slowing down!

Due to this increase they have created a new role for a Design & Production Engineer to join the company, as this is a new role its a great opportunity for you to come in, start from scratch and create a role.

You will be joining a well established business that covers a variety of markets such as: Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Instrumentation and much more! This business has had their equipment on the Mars Rover!

What is the role?

As a Design & Production Engineer you will be responsible for developing and coordinating the design and production of electronic components from inception to completion.

This Design & Production Engineer position is a multi faceted role where your time will be split into Design (30%), Cost estimations (30%), Support to manufacturing (20%) and documentation (20%).

Here is an idea of some of your duties:
  • Conduct studies on customers proposals.
  • Develop systems based on customer input, production specifications, test data and standard engineering practices.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software
  • Details drawings and coordinates building of prototype product and testing
  • Develops manufacturing process to produce newly designed parts.
  • Designs and details tools for making components or for assembly.
  • Ensure that the necessary bills of materials are available or loaded onto the ERP system.
  • Develop Process Documentation and BOM's for new and current designs.

What are we looking for?

To be considered for the Design & Production Engineer, we are looking for:
  • Degree or HNC/HND Qualification and/or relevant experience.
  • Experienced user of 3D CAD - AutoCAD, Solidworks or Pro-E (3D Inventor would be an advantage).
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings to include wiring and circuit diagrams.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes within an electromechanical environment.
