** Speech and Language Therapist (SEMH/ ASD/ ADHD/ Challenging Behaviour)

**Hours: Full-time 36 hours a week

**Location: Bexley

Future Education is working with a Trust of Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) in the borough of Bexley. They are recruiting for an experienced full time, permanent Speech & Language Therapist to start work immediately or October 2019.

They are all incredibly well run with solid and consistent Senior Leadership Team through-out the PRUs. They are looking for an experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team (including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Music Therapists). Essentially the successful Speech and Language Therapist will be working between the Trust of PRUs so it is imperative that they drive and have either Mainstream or SEN School Experience - working with primary or secondary pupils with SEMH/ASD/ADHD/SEBD or Challenging Behaviour.

As a Speech & Language Therapist you will support your learners in retrieving all aspects of the curriculum, as well as communicating with parents/carers and other external professionals and agencies. It is imperative that you have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will work closely with teaching staff, helping to integrate therapy and learning objectives, as well as educating and supporting teaching staff in delivering therapy programmes and use of specialised equipment. You will also deliver training to other staff.

This Trust provides a non-residential, stimulating learning environment for students across a wide range of diagnoses including moderate/ severe/ and profound learning disabilities, Autism, physical disabilities, mental health and additional diagnoses.
  • Qualifications related to therapy, young people & children with SEN and/or leadership & management
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a Speech & Language Therapist (in a mainstream or SEN School setting)
  • Experience with Challenging behaviour students; SEMH/ ADHD/ ASD/ SEBD as a Speech & Language Therapist etc
  • Experience with Primary or Secondary aged pupils
  • Understanding of mental health in children, trauma, ACEs and the impact of abuse and mental health difficulties on child development, attachment and behaviour
  • Experience working with young people & children in challenging contexts
  • Understanding of relevant codes of practice/ policies& awareness of relevant legislation
  • Committed to the safeguarding of children & young people
