We brainstorm, design, architect, innovate, experiment, build and maintain the systems that power Ocado.We are developing a world class and highly innovative retail and fulfilment platform, called the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP). Our next generation fulfilment centres make sure that the stock we receive from our suppliers is stored in the right area of our automated warehouse, such that we can pick all the items in each of the customer orders passed to us. This task involves algorithms and business logic breaking the job down into component parts which can be passed to our numerous people, conveyor and robot control systems for execution. Efficiency and accuracy are at the centre of everything we do. Building the new technology platform to enable each of our sites, running 24/7, to reach their 200,000 orders per week capability keeps us busy and continually presents new challenges for us to solveTo help us scale we are building a team of Product Managers in Technology responsible for different areas of the platform and goals. What will I be doing:As part of the development of the OSP platform, the Private and Edge Cloud department is looking for people to join the Analytics team, a team focused on using data and code to find solutions to a variety of challenges within the Private and Edge Cloud department.The purpose of the Analytics team is to build data engineering and analysis functionality to enable the extraction, storage and analysis of data from technology within the Private and Edge Cloud systems, analysis that will help solve real business problems such as capacity planning and predicting instability, and enable more efficient resolution of problem incidents.We need a product manager to help provide a well-structured and supported development culture and environment into which we can reliably onboard data software engineers through identifying and organising business problems for the department.You will be reponsible for:Delivery of the product vision, strategy and roadmap to drive our systems and business processes forwardRelease planning and for setting expectations for the delivery of new functionalitiesWorking with stakeholders to understand and evaluate business problems and opportunitiesMaintaining the development teams focus on delivering value, balancing multiple streams of requirements and scheduleFollow the development of new features and services from inception to launch while keeping internal and external stakeholders at the center of everythingGive/receive feedback and input to/from a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Use data to drive prioritisationWhat do I need to know to be successful:Solid understanding of, and previous experience, in Product DevelopmentPrior experience working in technical product management Strong affinity with technology, ideally but not exclusively associated with the collection of, storage of, and extracting value from data. For example:Visualise long-term underlying trendsTools to clear "noise" to assist in the diagnosis of problemsExperience of value-driven prioritisation techniques and of being able to clearly explain the thinking behind prioritisation decisionsExperience of engaging and working with customers/stakeholders within an enterprise organisation e.g. internal stakeholders such as engineering managers, dept heads, other product managers, team leads.Experience of working on data-driven products, ideally within an enterprise organisation.Previous hands-on experience as a software engineer, or equivalent technical roleDemonstrable experience of working in an Agile environmentWhat we can offer youWithin our flexible work environment we can offer technically stretching work, a competitive salary and share schemes.
