Gate Automation Engineer

A fast growing, family-run company has a fantastic opportunity for an organised and self-motivated engineer who would like to broaden their technical knowledge across a range of products and services.

You'll be working in the south-east, predominantly in Kent and south-east London, and your duties will include:
  • Fitting, retrofitting and upgrading new gates, barriers and shutters
  • Completing reactive and planned maintenance
  • Responding to call-outs to resolve faults
  • Completing routine maintenance - including fault-finding and repairs
  • Completing surveys and technical reports
  • Helping delight customers by fixing problems quickly, being polite, punctual and friendly

Your primary role will be working with gates and gate automation; however, as they also install and maintain intruder alarms, CCTV systems, access control systems, fire alarm systems, home automation/control systems including networking and Wi-Fi. These wide installation needs mean you will also receive training on these systems to expand your knowledge and help with installs and maintenance.

You should have at least three years' experience of the following:
  • Full installation of gates/automation, barriers, shutters and access control/intercoms including safety devices
  • Gate safe or DHF training which can be provided if necessary
  • Maintenance experience including the ability to fault find and repair
  • Significant experience working with automatic gates, manual gates, automatic barriers, roller shutters, and sectional doors

Our client realises that there is a vast range of equipment on the market, but you should have a good understanding of all the major automation systems. They currently use BFT as their preferred product, however the following are also used and all experience with these brands will be beneficial:
  • Gate Automation: Came, Beninca, Faac, Bpt, DEA, Nice, SEA
  • Shutters: SWS is our only sold product. We use shutters with Somfy motors.
  • Intercom systems: Paxton, AES, BPT, Videx, Daitem, Comelit, Bell, Impro

We expect that you'll have the following:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • CSCS Cards
  • A clean criminal record - basic DBS and advanced DBS will be required as we work with schools
  • DHF or Gate Safe training - we can help you with these if you don't already have them

What they offer?

Our client is passionate about individual development and are proud to offer learning and development opportunities to all staff.

In addition to a competitive salary, Patron employees can enjoy a generous contributory pension scheme of matched contributions up to 6%, a discretionary bonus scheme, entertainment discounts and childcare benefits.

They have been trading for seven years and their growth has been based on a reputation for technical excellence combined with great customer service.

Your role involves being on call, reacting to emergencies as well as attending business-critical works. The call out premium is incorporated into your basic salary. You will normally be on call 1 week in 4 from 17:00 on a Friday for one week. On-call allowance is also incorporated into your annual salary. Compensatory rest periods following call-outs are unpaid. A call-out payment is made from the time you leave home to the time you return home, excluding any personal stops.
