We are seeking a Design & Production Engineer to work for a manufacturing company.

Purpose

Develops and coordinates the design and production of electronic components from inception to completion. To be responsible for customer estimation and design enquiries, managing Glovia ERP system for the production module and planning, responsible for engineering changes and production tool design in addition to other production/manufacturing needs. The role is split with 30% design using AutoCAD, 30% cost estimations , 20% offering technical support to the manufacturing team and 20% documentation

Primary Duties

• Conducts studies on customer proposals

• Develops systems based on customer input, production specifications, test data and standard engineering practices

• Details drawings and coordinates building of prototype product and testing

• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software

• Generating the necessary CDU (Customer drawings) documents utilising Computer Aided Design system (preferably AutoCAD and Pro E

• With the support of the Engineering manager ensure that the manufacturing processes documentation is available or is generated

• Ensure that the necessary bills of materials are available or loaded onto the GLOVIA G2 ERP system. (manufacturing module)

• Ensure traceability requirements are maintained through the accurate issue of picking lists and GRN details.

• Ensure accurate stock control is maintained.

• Confirm that any special packing or dispatch requirements are detailed on the process documentation.

• Support the Head of Design and Planning and the relevant Sales Engineer in resolving any manufacturing or lead time issues with customers.

• Responsible for ensuring the final design meets functional and performance specifications.

• Responsible for ensuring that designs and projects are complete on time and at a reasonable cost.

• Develops manufacturing process to produce newly designed parts.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

• Completion of a Bachelor's degree

• Three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experienced use of AutoCAD (3D inventor will be an advantadge), Solidworks, PRO/E

• Be able to read engineering drawings including GA's, items lists, wiring diagrams/lists, circuit diagrams etc.

• Be capable of generating CAD drawings, preferably using AutoCAD and Pro E.

• Experience in a production planning environment preferably within a manufacturing organisation and working within an AS9100 accredited system.

• Be familiar with manufacturing processes within an electromechanical assembly environment.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
