Location: Northampton

Salary: £25,000-£30,000

Hours: Mon-Fri

An exciting two-part role has come up working for a well-established manufacturing company in Northampton.

1- The successful candidate will be required to support the Technical Department especially the Project Managers on the daily tasks, such as preparation of technical response to tenders and preparation of technical and project deliverables on contracts to the customers.

2- As the time goes by, the successful candidate will also be required to participate with the principal engineers in the design of our products

Key duties will include:
  • Provide general support to the appointed Project Managers (PM) on all projects undertaken including, under the supervision of the PM: o maintenance of MS-Project project plans and other project documents o assisting with Project and Technical documentation preparations for response to tenders, etc o attending Project meetings at Customers premises when required
  • Assist Principal Engineers in the design of products by producing and/or updating: o bills of materials and costing spreadsheets o operation and maintenance manuals including maintenance plans, spare parts catalogues o CE Technical files or certification files
  • Perform the daily tasks from the Technical Office: o manage the electronic storage and retrieval of Technical Documentation, ensuring document control to Company Standards and Procedures o provide drawings, technical documentation and when required, assistance to the Workshop, Contractors or Quality to facilitate production or any development work o undertake any drawing changes and Technical Documentation work required and ensure that this work complies with Technical Office Procedures and Practices o specifying components and selecting potential suppliers
  • Occasionally undertake domestic and overseas travels as required to ensure the completion of the above tasks or represent the company

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
  • Educated to degree / HND / HNC level in an appropriate Engineering discipline
  • Appreciation of Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems
  • Proficient in Engineering Drawing Practice
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Ability to undertake FEA would be an advantage
  • Proficient with MS Office software
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Understanding of French would be an advantage
