Advancing People are working with a global technology client based in Gloucester, who due to a recent acquisition are recruiting for a Swedish accredited, qualified Accountant.

The main purpose of this role is to be responsible for managing the activities involved in performing accounting functions for the new acquisition in Sweden. This will involve ensuring that activities are performed in an accurate manner within established deadlines and being an integral part of streamlining and transitioning the acquired company's systems, procedures and policies.

The main responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing accounting topics of the acquired company for compliance with GAAP
  • Participating in the coordination of accounting functions between business segments and divisions, ensuring an understanding of the company's financial systems, procedures, and policies, as well as how they relate to corporate goals and objectives and ensuring a thorough understanding of accounting functions performed at division and corporate levels
  • Assisting with the preparation of month-end and annual statutory financial statements
  • Liaising with external auditors
  • Assisting with the preparation of VAT and Corporate tax returns
  • Continuously reviewing the effectiveness of current operations, striving to identify improvements to current processes
  • Know and support approved accounting, corporate, and departmental policies and procedures
  • There will be the opportunity for team management as the role grows and develops

Successful applicants MUST have accreditation that permits them to sign off accounts for Swedish entities as this is an essential part of the role. Advanced Excel skills including v look ups, pivot tables and macros are expected. Experience within a global business would be advantageous, as would Swedish language skills.

The role would suit someone with either a wealth of accounting experience who can hit the ground running or someone who is earlier in their career looking for career progression and the opportunity to grow and learn and as such the salary range of between £45,000 to £56,000 reflects differing levels of experience. This is a full time, permanent position with great prospects for progression with a forward thinking and expanding company.
