Due to extremely exciting expansion plans we are recruiting for an Fabricator/Welder to join a dedicated and skilled production team on an initial 6 month contract basis, whilst working for an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business. You will need strong fabrication and welding skills, MMA and MIG and the ability to weld to high standards in accordance to engineering drawings.

You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills while supporting exciting new projects. This role will offer the chance to take real ownership over your work and make a real difference to the success of the team and company.

Key responsibilities:

The following are main duties for the role but not limited to:
  • Read and interpret engineering instructions (drawings and photographs)
  • Fabricate (assemble) enclosures, heat exchangers, pipework and other components according to engineering drawings
  • Prepare bar stock material to drawing to complete the assembly
  • Tack weld assemblies to specified dimensions in readiness for final welding
  • Weld to high standard using MIG, MMA and TIG
  • Weld mild steel 3mm - 30mm plate thickness
  • Weld aluminium and stainless steel
  • Undertake hydrostatic pressure testing to verify weld integrity
  • Complete material preparation activities as required.
  • Complete project documentation as required
  • Document any aspects or components developed during the project for future reference
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Operate within the guidelines of the Company's policies and procedures, IS09001 and internal work instructions

Experience required:
  • Apprenticeship, City and Guilds or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proven experience of working in a fabrication/welding position
  • Ability to weld to a high standard using MIG, MMA and TIG
  • Experience of fabricating and welding single skin products
  • Ability to read and understand fabrication engineering drawings including geometric tolerancing, weld symbols, etc
  • Ability to fabricate and weld double skinned pressure vessels and pipe assemblies
  • Basic IT skills.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience of brake press operating
  • Experience of fabricating and welding aluminium and stainless steel
