Responsible to: CARE MANAGER

This senior role is 35 hours Mon to Fri and a mixture of earlies and lates. The shift patterns is Mon 7am-2.30pm, Tues 2pm-8.30pm, Weds 7am-2.30pm, Thurs 2pm-8.30pm and Fri 7am-2.30pm


- To assist with the daily care of Residents and promote their general well being.
- To supervise and motivate the care team.
- To share with other care staff in providing a high standard of care which meets with the differing needs of the Residents and respects their rights as an individual.
- To support the Manager and Deputy Manager, or in their absence, accept the responsibility of managing the Home, in all respects.


- To manage the delegated administrative affairs of the Home, with specific regard to care planning, client care and the general maintenance of the accommodation together with prompt attention to incoming telephone calls.
- Ensure that staff are allocated appropriately and understand their duties and responsibilities. Staff should be allocated to assist Residents:
o to dress, bath, toilet and feed themselves.
o to maintain and monitor the health and welfare of all the Residents for which they are responsible.
o to assist Residents who have mobility problems and other disabilities to help with the use of and care of all associated aids and equipment.
o to assist in the promotion of mental and physical stimulation of residents by spending time talking with them and joining in with social and leisure activities.

- To conduct formal staff supervisions in accordance with our Staff Supervision procedures
- To ensure that the prescribed staffing levels are maintained at all times whilst on duty.
- To ensure all medication is administered in accordance with the drugs policy at all times.
- To ensure that bedrooms, toilets, commodes, and the sluice room are kept in a clean, tidy condition.
- To ensure appropriate adequate stocks of tissue, soap, towels etc. are available in residents rooms at all times.
- To ensure any equipment, which he/she is authorised to use, is used and stored correctly.
- To assist with the transfer of Residents within the Home.
- To assist in the care of Residents skin and feet, in order that any problems may be detected early.
- Be alert to, and report any changes in, a resident's condition to the Care Manager/Deputy Manager, and to record any changes and concerns on the resident's personal file.
- To obtain advice or assistance from the Resident's Doctor, or other professional, should the situation demand it.
- To complete necessary documentation to accompany residents on a (planned or unplanned) hospital admission.
- To carry out such care duties which his/her training and experience qualify him/her to perform.
- Supervision of staff every 3 months.
- Induction of new care staff.
- To take part in staff meetings and training activities, as directed by the Manager, her Deputy or other senior member of staff.
- To conduct resident's monthly reviews in the absence of and/or in collaboration with the Care Manager and Deputy Manager
- To collect specimens as required and to ensure appropriate records are maintained.
- To show potential residents around the Home in a positive manner, maintaining an accurate record of the visitor's names, address and telephone numbers.
- To assist staff with personal care to residents when required.
- To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.
- To complete and update care plans
- To complete medication audits
- To complete residents diary notes.

This job description indicates the main duties and responsibilities of the post. In addition the post holder will be expected to carry out such other duties as he/she may be reasonably requested to perform.
