Compliance Specialist

Location: Wolverhampton

Salary: £28k to £40k dependant on experience

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

We are looking for a dynamic Compliance Specialist to lead a small Compliance team. The role is required to ensure the business maintains an environment which meets all applicable FCA/SRA regulatory requirements and expectations, and to carry out the Compliance Oversight Function (CF10) and the MLR Function (CF11). The role is also required to maintain and implement compliance processes for all operational matters including GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly authorised organisation; an opportunity to take the Compliance regime forward.

Responsibilities of the Compliance Specialist:

* Maintain the Compliance Manual and related procedures, provide training as required;
* Work with the existing CF10a to oversee CASS;
* Conduct and support compliance risk assessments;
* Provide advice to management and answer queries on policies, procedures and controls;
* Provide guidance to business management on changes in the regulatory environment;
* Review marketing materials and website copy for compliance;
* Support the business by providing advice on GDPR & Data Protection.
* Answer Data Subject queries both internally and externally in a timely manner.
* Respond to Data Subject Access Requests.
* Conduct wider Privacy assignments including reviewing Privacy notices, Policies & Procedures and identifying & reporting on Data Protection & Compliance risks.
* Handle adhoc compliance activities surrounding AML & Anti-Bribery & Corruption.
* Assist with projects for the expansion of product offerings to support the business goals;
* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements of the Compliance Specialist:

* 5 years+ work experience in a Compliance role in an FCA or SRA regulated sectors
* Superior working knowledge of the FCA Handbook/ SRA guidelines;
* Experience of conducting audits;
* Confident dealing with Senior Management & Stakeholders, able to build and maintain strong relationships.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills;
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently;
* Hands-on operational experience of Data Protection & GDPR, ideally 1-3+ years
* Enjoy working in a dynamic environment;
* Like the idea of becoming the lead compliance person in the team and growing the department of a multi-sector Group business.
* Act as the GDPR Data Protection Officer;
* Act as Training and Competence Supervisor;
* Support the business strategy, identify opportunities and risks relating to compliance
