Position: Dementia Adviser
Location: Ashington
Contract type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 21 per week
Salary: £11,978 to £12,462 (depending on skills and experience)

About the role:

We have a vacancy for a Dementia Adviser to provide a highly responsive, individualised information and signposting service to people with dementia and their families.

The Dementia Advisor is one of four posts in the Northumberland team. This post covers the west of the County, up to Kielder and across to the Cumbrian border. The team offers advice and information to all people living with dementia, including family carers. They also offer advice and information to those who may be concerned about their memory.

We are looking for a well-motivated, highly organised person with excellent communication and people skills to provide support to people with dementia and their carers. Enabling maintenance of their independence, improving their sense of well-being and putting them more in control of their lives. You will be required to manage referrals and maintain a caseload logging accurate, up to date support plans and records for service users.

You will possess a relevant NVQ Level 3 or have equivalent skills and experience. You will need excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well within a busy service environment. Ideally you will possess an in depth understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers.

You will be speaking to people at all levels in your local area across a diverse community so great networking and influencing skills are essential. You must be able to manage several tasks at once and keep yourself motivated to perform to meet deadlines.

This role involves regular use of IT packages, therefore a good standard of IT is desirable.
