This position is for a Financial Analyst role reporting to the Financial Controller Reporting; Engines & Power, EMEA Corporate Services and responsible for performing various accounting, reporting, controls and tax activities within the financial reporting function.

The person will
  • Have good knowledge and experience of accounting and reporting under a US or regional GAAP basis.
  • Some knowledge in Italian or Spanish taxation (would be an advantage).
  • Preferably have a working knowledge of SAP.
  • Have a strong customer service ethic and support the EMEA businesses with accounting and financial accounting knowledge.
  • Execute the role in alignment with policies, procedures and matrix organisation structure.
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity and candour to all key stakeholders and support the safeguarding of the assets of the company.
  • Identify or support improvements in internal controls, policy implementation and the standardisation of processes and procedures.
  • Other languages can be an advantage (Italian, Spanish or other preferred).

SPECIFIC OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting
  • Support the reporting team in the maintenance of financial records for local entities in accordance with US and Regional GAAP, tax, legal, and company requirements
  • Participate in the month-end reporting in accordance with the close timetable. This includes the preparation and posting of month-end accruals and journals.
  • Preparation of the monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Participate in the month-end Intercompany process - raise and process recharge invoices, agree intercompany balances with colleagues worldwide, reconcile Intercompany balances every month and resolve queries with the support of the Financial Controller.
  • Support the preparation of the periodic indirect or direct tax returns and other compliance requirements (Italian & Spanish preferred).
  • Complete statutory declarations for local / regional authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Business systems, processes and improvement
  • Documenting procedures and creating checklists where necessary and/or helpful
  • Work with the Financial Controller to help improve the function and implementation of best practice within the team.
  • Work with finance teams in the business and across financial reporting to streamline and standardize the month-end close process.

Stakeholder support
  • Provide reliable, timely service to 'customers' in the Regional businesses.
  • Provide support for the European Tax function.
  • Manage and respond on a timely basis to ad hoc requests and queries from the US Corporate Reporting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Part qualified Accountant
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a finance/accounting role.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems; SAP is preferred
