Hours to be worked flexibly over five days each week - will include some early shifts, late shifts, waking night shifts and alternate weekends.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Team Leader to join Milestones Trust. We are a not-for-profit charitable organisation with a 33 year history of offering person-centred support to vulnerable people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia.

Working at Tramways, with a basic of £21,484 per annum + excellent benefits, you will be responsible for encouraging and supporting service users to define and develop their chosen lifestyles through person-centred care in our residential service.

Tramways is situated in Brislington and offers a recovery service for fourteen people with complex mental health needs. The aim of the service is to enable people to develop and maintain a lifestyle which promotes their physical and emotional well-being. The team is very person centred in its approach.

Role, Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

THE ROLE: As Assistant Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
  • To encourage and enable service users to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health.
  • To support the Home Manager and Team Leader.
  • To provide service users with the agreed necessary support to maximise their independence and to develop social and life skills.
  • Managing the day to day operation of shifts in the absence of the Home Manager
  • Ensuring service users are provided support according to their care plans and risk assessments and that these are updated when needed
  • Supervising support staff by monitoring performance, offering guidance and support and conducting regular supervision
  • Administering, ordering and storing medication according to Trust policies and procedures

YOU: The successful Assistant Team Leader will:
  • Be educated to GCSE Level A-C or equivalent in Maths and English or ability to pass numeracy and literacy tests
  • Have previous experience of a managing and leading people and teams
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, service users and a range of stakeholders
  • Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature
  • Have effective time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Possess mentoring /coaching skills and the ability to provide a positive and professional role model to other members of staff
  • Have good IT skills and familiar with packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
