We are currently looking for an IT and Network Engineer for our client, an expanding Managed IT Services Company based in their Warrington office. This particular role offers excellent scope for career development with the clients active commitment to training and development. The successful candidate must be willing to go through SC security checks due to the nature of our clients work.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Support and offer improvement to our network infrastructure both on premise and at our remote sites
  • Support and offer improvement on client's network infrastructure
  • Monitor network systems using a range of networking tools and reacting to problems
  • Support and offer improvement on our internal server estate and data centre infrastructure
  • Support and offer improvement on clients Server Infrastructure
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support in person, over the telephone and via remote support software
  • Ensure Service Desk tickets are dealt with in line with the relevant SLAs and KPIs
  • Delivering support and technical expertise to end users face to face
  • Investigate problems, according to impact, through to resolution or error identification
  • Assist Project Manager on key projects
  • Take ownership of situations when there are no Yellowbus managers or Senior Engineers
  • Become part of the on-call support phone rota

Ideally, you'll have the following skills and experience:

  • Have a solid foundation in Networking and Network principles
  • Hold CCNA certification or be at a standard to undertake the qualification
  • Have a good understanding of L3 routing protocols, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
  • Have an good understanding of VLANs
  • Have a good understanding or Routers / Firewalls - Draytek, CISCO, Sophos
  • Knowledge of Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of Hypervisors / Remote Desktop / App platforms but not essential
  • Have good all-round network troubleshooting capabilities
  • Experience with CISCO and HP switches
  • Have an understanding / have used Solarwinds Orion NPM
  • Ability to analyse performance data to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements
  • Commercial awareness
  • Thin client / hosted desktop
  • Microsoft Desktop & Server operating systems and applications (MS Windows 10, MS Office, MS Office 365 & MS Server Operating Systems)
  • Security focused whilst being aware of vulnerabilities and threats apparent
  • Active Directory
  • AV and Desktop encryption software
  • A full UK driving license
  • Strong system, software and hardware diagnostics, fault finding and problem-solving ability
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure would be an advantage

You will:

  • Remain calm under pressure and be a tenacious problem solver
  • Understands when issues should be escalated
  • Be eager to learn with an ability to self-teach in areas of uncertainty
  • Possess a strong customer service ethos with a hunger to develop and improve your experience
  • Good diagnostic skills
