Trainee Compliance Officer

As a Trainee Compliance Officer, it will be your duty to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements by delivering the Quilter Financial Planning Compliance Monitoring Programme.

This will be achieved by co-ordinating and supporting activity within the Financial Promotions team and wider S&O teams where appropriate, assisting the Team Manager where required in monitoring workflow, contributing to team performance against service standard and supporting the production of accurate and informative MI.

The successful candidate will enter as a trainee but will be expected to develop their technical knowledge and competence, with a view to become accredited in all tasks within the first 12 months.

About the role

You will be responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring and distributing daily and weekly service level updates, monthly MI reports and ad-hoc MI requests. You will assist the Manager, team and wider department as appropriate or requested.

You will develop knowledge and skills with a view to being accredited in completing some of the basic processes within the team within the first 3-6 months of appointment. Such basic processes include (but are not limited to) control checks and stationery reviews ensuring we adhere to Principle 7 FCA requirement of 'Fair, clear and not misleading'.

In addition to this, you will develop knowledge and skills with a view to being accredited in all other (more complex) processes within the team within the first 12 months of appointment, the main being advertising reviews. You will also maintain the agreed team Standard Level Agreement (SLA), whilst offering help and assistance to all advisers wishing to gain approval or guidance on their advertising or stationery material.

You must strive to maintain a personal and team quality level above minimum standard, and always seek to improve a good working relationships with all key stakeholders.

About you
  • 5 GCSE's A-C grade as minimum will be required, including Maths and English.
  • Industry related qualifications are preferred but not essential (Level 3 or Level 4 qualified*).
  • *None qualified or part qualified individuals would be considered however they would be expected to attain minimum of Level 3 status within 12 months of appointment.
  • 2-3 years' experience working in retail Financial Services preferred, but not essential. However, abasic understanding of our regulator the FCA, a financial services network and the approach to Financial Promotions is required.
  • Experience of working in both IFA and Restricted environments advantageous, as well as a basic knowledge and understanding of Financial Services regulation and the Retail Distribution Review (RDR); Mortgage Market Review (MMR) and Mortgage Credit Directive (MCD); MiFID II and GDPR.
  • A commitment to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF): a good understanding of Quilter Financial Plannings TCF principles and the activities expected of its Appointed Representatives (ARs).
