JHE & Partners are delighted to be working with a leading organisation in Leeds as they begin their search for an experienced Accounts Assistant. The successful candidate will join a small but busy finance function and will report to the Financial Controller. Applicants will be confident communicators, comfortable speaking with people at all levels both over the phone as well as face to face in the office. Enthusiasm and a desire to learn is key within the role.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

Daily
  • Input invoices onto the accounting system
  • Deal with purchase ledger queries from the business and vendors
  • Daily bank reconciliation and payment allocation

Weekly
  • Input both personal and company expenses onto the accounting system
  • Set up new vendors on accounting system following strict control procedures
  • Owner of a weekly payment run and adhering to prompt vendor payments within the payment terms
  • Deposit any cheques at the bank

Monthly
  • Support the Sales Ledger Assistant by taking responsibility for some parts of the sales invoicing, particularly during busy periods
  • Completion and maintenance of both the cash and the creditors balance sheet reconciliations
  • Supporting the Assistant Management Accountant on cost accruals required at month end and other adhoc cost analysis as required

Applicants will be motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn. Experience with Sage 200 would be a bonus, but not essential as full training will be provided. A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages is important, particularly Excel.
