Our client within the Charity Sector is looking to recruit an experienced Cash Controller to work within their large Corporate Finance department.
Main Purpose
To oversee efficiently all service user-related incoming monies and ensure accurate and timely bank reconciliations.
Responsibilities of Job
* To oversee and co-ordinate all incoming service user monies from a wide range of funding services
* To co-ordinate incoming direct debits, standing orders and credit card transactions from service users
* To oversee all relevant account records ensuring they are accurate and up to date
* To reconcile Sage accounting system control accounts for each of the commissioning authorities and resolve queries with the support of the payments team in a timely manner
* To investigate all "unknown client funds", establish the audit trail, and communicate the identification of the client to the relevant internal staff member and external stakeholders
* Ensure all cheques are banked and recorded in accordance with cheque control protocol
* To respond to operational stakeholder enquiries regarding incoming cash and escalate emerging issues and trends to the CFO
* Raising intercompany bank transfers and customer refunds via online banking facilities
* To undertake cash-related tasks on a one-off basis as directed by the Head of Corporate Finance and the Chief Financial Officer
* To provide cover/support to the Corporate Finance team during times of absence and/or in accordance with business need

Person Specification
Essential
* Solid knowledge of Excel to at least intermediate level
* Experience of cash receipts work
* Knowledge of basic accounting principles
* Knowledge of computerised accounting systems
* Good numeracy and computer literacy skills
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Ability to prioritise work and work on own initiative
* Ability to work to deadlines
* Good problem-solving skills
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
* AAT qualification
* Knowledge of Sage 50/Sage 200 Accounting software
* Experience of working in an accounts department in a small business environment
