We have an exciting temporary opportunity to work at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in central Southampton. The successful candidate will ensure compliance and will provide finance administrative support. The perfect candidate will follow set procedures and will exercise some independent judgment in carrying out instructions, under general supervision, for project accounting support. Examples of work performed will include but not be restricted to:
  • Support the business units with all aspects of the P2P module
  • Help ensure project accounting costs are captured for Survey income
  • Help ensure income manager accounting controls are followed for relevant income streams and with systems issues relating to P2P
  • Process accounts /income manager journals as necessary
  • Assist with workflow on any refunds as necessary
  • Help manage customer standing data workflow
  • Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of others
  • Overseeing administrative procedures and processes
  • Assisting with budget preparation and control, if required
  • Acting as a administrative liaison with internal and / or external sources

Typical qualifications and experience:
  • Five GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent (including English Language or equivalent)
  • NVQ Business Administration Level 2 (or suitable clerical experience)
  • Administrative experience with a good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • As the successful candidate, you will possess good IT skills (specifically Microsoft Word and Excel), and finance, purchase admin experience. You will be able to communicate in written form to a good standard

The length of the assignment: till the end of the year

£10.63/hour, Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
