Job Title: Personal Assistant/Carer Location: Crawley Hourly rate: £ per hour Reference: DP2143 Hours/shifts: Thursday each week - This temporary position may well become permanent Summary • I am looking for a carer for my 25 year old ; He has Angelman Syndrome, a neurogenetic disorder characterised by lack of expressive or receptive language skills and a very happy ; He is unable to walk independently and uses a wheelchair but can weight-bear and enjoys either being out and about or simply out of his ; He has epilepsy but this is very well controlled and he has been happily seizure free for a number of ; • He currently attends day care centres each day throughout the week which are a short distance from his ; I am looking for a carer to meet him at his day care facility in Crawley and provide one-to-one care for him throughout the day, including feeding him lunch, undertaking personal care and ensuring he is kept happy and ; Other Requirements (please edit as appropriate) • Access to own vehicle and UK driving licence would be advantageous but not essential • Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - Preparing drinks Warming meals provided Personal Care - • Using a hoist to access equipment (ie, a trike) at the centre • Assistance to use the toilet • Dressing and undressing in order to use the toilet • Mealtimes cutting up food, assistance to eat Social - • Assistance to access social and leisure activities • Accompanying on trips out • Pushing wheelchair when out Person specification The successful applicant will be: • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality • Reliable with good time-keeping • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills • Honest and cheerful • Creative • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
