Overview:
The Technical Project Manager takes responsibility for the delivery of complex IT projects within the financial services domain, covering areas such as digital & payments transformation, customer engagement, risk and regulatory compliance. Successful candidates will provide end to end management of technical engagements, typically upwards of £1m in value. They may report into a Programme Manager who is either our client's own resource or a third-party/internal resource from a project perspective. The Project Manager will always report into our clients nominated Engagement Manager. This is a commercial project management requirement that requires exceptional stakeholder management skills alongside technical project delivery capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as client interface between technology teams and the client
  • Providing pragmatic project management guidance to clients and colleagues
  • Managing all aspects of project delivery including project planning, resourcing, milestone tracking, commercial management and customer satisfaction
  • Progress reporting at client site, and internal reporting
  • Acting to support multiple project resources
  • Supporting blended teams of colleagues, client and partner resources to share knowledge and develop an integrated delivery ethic.
  • Build effective working relationships with both delivery and business development organisations with the objective of seeking opportunities to add value to the end client

Skills & Experience:

We specifically seek a proven consulting professional with the background experience of enterprise scale project management within systems integration or management consulting organisations. The foundation skills / experiences that will be likely to underpin future success are:
  • Full life-cycle project management experience, from initial opportunity through to requirement development / definition, project mobilisation and commercial negotiation of change requests
  • Experience in iterative project methodologies, such as Agile (Scrum, Kanban, DSDM) and hybrids of Waterfall and Agile that tend to operate in large scale financial institutions
  • Experience of delivering specific Capital Markets or Banking Payment solutions, in areas such as BACS, Faster Payments, SEPA, SWIFT and mobile payments
  • Industry recognised Project Management skills and related certifications including Prince II, PMI, APMP, DSDM
  • Proven commercial stakeholder management and client engagement skills
  • Strong team leadership skills, especially in the context of large teams of consulting professionals
  • Project Management experience within the context of technical solutions, typically of a software engineering nature
  • Strong experience in the management of risks, issues and dependencies for enterprise class

Engagements:
  • Experience of working with disparately located teams (both onshore and offshore) and within multi-vendor scenarios
  • Significant experience of large-scale projects within a consulting / professional services environment. Specific payments project experience will be an advantage
  • Financial Services domain knowledge with practical experience of mobilising technology to meet the market dynamics effecting the financial services domain (Risk / Cost / Customer)

  • Job Location: London SW19 & Client Sites
  • Travel profile: Candidates should be willing to work at client site (which may involve some travel) in the interest of meeting with customers and collaborating with colleagues
  • Salary Offered: £70k - £90k (on experience) +20% bonus + 10% pension + benefits
