About the role:

Mentoring Coordinators are responsible for overseeing paid and volunteer mentors, delivering both individual and group family / relationship case work-support across the West Yorkshire area. You will be required to recruit, train and retain volunteers across a cluster of towns to provide mentoring support for offenders resettling from prison into the community. In addition to volunteers. You will oversee the service provided by your pool of mentors, working with a range of statutory and non-statutory partners including Community Rehabilitation Companies, the Prison Service, National Probation Service, and a wide variety of local voluntary and community agencies.

We're looking for a Mentoring Coordinator to work in our local Through the Gate Mentoring team as part of a new regional TR contract. We are currently looking for two 'Through the Gate' Mentor Coordinators for West Yorkshire. Although you will have a central base at these locations, your role will involve regular travel in the West Yorkshire area.

You will be responsible for the management of mentoring services within a large geographical area, provided in the main by volunteers that you will need to train and support in their roles. These Volunteer Mentors will take on a caseload of offenders who are being released from prison, and will be responsible for providing them with support to ensure successful resettlement into the community, provided through one to one casework, group work and drop-in sessions. You will also provide the same service and manage your own smaller caseload.

About you:

As a coordinator for the service locally, you will need to build and maintain effective relationships with prisons, Community Rehabilitation Companies and community agencies, ensuring successful referral and feedback mechanisms are in place and providing timely and regular information to the Service Manager with regards to targets, progress and issues.

More information about the service:

The Through the Gate Mentoring Project provides support to offenders leaving prison to enable them to resettle successfully back into their communities. The service will be delivered in the main by a team of trained and vetted volunteers, with some support from professional paid mentors for higher-risk cases. These mentors will report to local Mentoring Co-ordinators, who will work closely with Prison and community colleagues to promote the service and generate referrals of suitable participants from Prison staff as well as self-referrals from individuals who feel that they would benefit from Pact's support.
