Governance ManagerAbingdonPosition: Information Governance ManagerBased: AbingdonType: Permanent/Full-TimeAbout the roleThe Information Governance Manager will lead and manage all organisation-wide data governance and regularity data compliance activities. This role's responsibilities include advising on RPS compliance with GDPR and local data protection laws, monitoring adherence to GDPR standards and acting as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. This role will also create relevant data policies that enforce compliance with legislation and deliver GDPR training to RPS staff to increase awareness of data protection legislation and measures.In addition, this role will support the Chief Data Officer in establishing and coordinating a data governance framework across the Group. Ensuring there is clarity on ownership, accountability, and decision rights of master and reference data. This will involve setting up a network of data stewards who locally will drive data ownership, compliance, and data quality improvements. Key Responsibilities Information governance framework• Develop and implement a company-wide information governance framework which sets out roles and responsibilities, decision rights, policies, and best-practice for the life-cycle management of data and information.• Develop and lead a virtual team of local data stewards and champions who will act as your eyes and ears on the ground with regards to information management and compliance• Operate the data governance framework, ensure data steering groups are running effectively, centrally log and coordinate the implementation of any resulting actions. Information management policies and best practice• Develop and publish information governance policies and procedures• Develop and coordinate the implementation of information classification across RPS document management solutions (Predominantly SharePoint) • Develop and implement an information governance communication plan which raise awareness of the importance and scope of information governance, provide updates, celebrate successes, and seek wider business engagement.• Design and carry out training programmes on information management and complianceInformation governance compliance• Ensure RPS maintains compliance with GDPR and other local information governance legislation and regulation• Act as the SME and point of contact for staff and local supervisory authorities (i.e. ICO) on information compliance related matters• Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the company. • Manage and address all queries and SARs from data subjects within legal timeframes• Review new and existing technology solutions to ensure privacy by design at all levels. Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) where appropriate.• Perform audits and determine whether we need to alter our procedures to comply with regulations. Follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance.• Offer consultation on how to deal with privacy breaches. Ensure the breach management process is being followed and breaches are reported to ICO when required. • Examine arrangements with third parties who process RPS personal data to ensure compliance with local data regulations. Work with legal representatives to ensure that information-sharing with partners/suppliers is lawful and falls under appropriate protocols and codes.Education and experience• Experience of performing Information compliance, data governance, or data protection role in a mid or large UK based organisation• Experience of developing and managing GDPR compliance• Experience of working with virtual teams/remote champions• Familiarity with local data protection in North America and Australia.
