SoilEssentials Ltd is a precision agriculture company based near Brechin, Angus. Established for over 19 years, SoilEssentials is one of the leaders in precision agriculture worldwide. Our partners range from local farming businesses to large global agricultural suppliers and from the UK to Europe and New Zealand

There are three distinct parts to our business: -

Precision Agronomy - which includes precision soil sampling, drone flying, area measurement satellite imagery supply and yield map processing;

Machine control - we are the official Northern UK Trimble reseller and sell, fit and support autosteering solutions on all agricultural machinery. We also supply our own GNSS correction service UK wide;

Software development and projects - develop, sell and support our own precision agriculture software which is used worldwide called KORE. We also work with project partners like the European Space Agency and Innovate UK to develop new tools in KORE for use by our customers;

The Role

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to join our team in rural Angus. This is a key role within SoilEssentials. Based at Hilton of Fern and working closely with the directors, the General Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the business, developing and motivating the staff and seeking to constantly improve the efficiency and financial results of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • General administration of SoilEssentials business.
  • Overseeing daily business operations.
  • Improve day to day business efficiency
  • Encourage and implement business policy, process and procedures
Daily financial management
  • Ensure process is in place to ensure monitoring of cash flow etc
  • Overview of HR management by staff
  • Support staff and HR consulting company to improve HR procedures
Overall business financial management
  • Define key KPI's for admin staff to produce in conjunction with directors and department heads.
  • Support accounts staff and accountants to ensure compliance with company accounting procedures and legal standards.
Monitor sales and product performance along with directors and department headsResearching and identifying growth and efficiency opportunities.Review monthly management reports with directors and department heads.Review budgeting and cash flow forecasting in conjunction with directors and department heads
About You

You will be a highly motivated General Manager who is able to demonstrate experience in the above areas. You should have a working knowledge of financial accounting systems and be an excellent communicator who has good numeric skills and good working knowledge of Excel. You should have a high attention to detail and be an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach to working hours. As we are based in rural Angus you need a current driving licence and your own transport.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered you must have experience of managing an SME with 2+ years in a management role or equivalent and with experience of working in a team and implementing change. You will have the ability to lead processes and improve procedures and controls.
