THE ROLE

As the Operations Manager you will have full autonomy to manage the day to day Operations of an Aerospace unit based in in the Taunton/Somerset area. This is a new senior leadership position in a key site for the group and you will manage the full site; a team of 30-60. The day to day will predominantly focus on driving performance, providing clear strategy and direction. Additional responsibilities of the Operations Manager are listed below:

Create plans to continuously strive to meet or exceed contractual arrangements using the resource within your control in the most effective manor, ensure that the site is capable of delivering the business requirements at all times

Work with Group Operation Manager to modify, improve, refine standard operating procedures

Drive a culture of total customer satisfaction

Budgets and forecasts

Responsible for all site KPIs

Strive towards a more lean culture

Manage all departments

Training, appraisals, disciplinary

Monthly reporting

Visit customers

Deliver yearly cost improvements through lean projects / CI

Work in conjunction with Functional Managers to smoothly implement organic business

Optimise performance, cost effectiveness and maintain control of the cost base

Identify, manage and implement route causes corrective action to drive improvements

THE PERSON

ESSENTIAL

Metallurgy/ materials background experience

AS9100 / Aerospace experience

Proven track record of managing teams

Continuous improvement / lean culture previously

Implementing performance management procedures

Customer facing previously

Budget exposure

Drive improvements in the business

Projects examples of improvements and deliverables previously achieved

Lead, motivate and challenge a team

Managing robust teams

Supporting business growth

Achieving Manufacturing and Production output targets and delivery, coaching and training

DESIRABLE

Degree - Metallurgy, Aerospace, Mechanical engineering, Chemicals
