My client are synonymous with intelligent design, innovation and quality within their sector, and as such, they occupy a leading position as a supplier of special purpose machinery to over 50 countries around the globe.

Thanks to this commitment to being at the forefront of what they do, they are growing, not speculatively or hopefully, but tangibly, with new clients and existing clients embracing the changing technologies they can offer.

Its a hugely exciting time to join.

As part of a process which will include increasing the engineering headcount by 20% between now and the end of the year, they are looking to hire an experienced and well qualified Mechanical Fitter to join their workshop team.

As Mechanical Fitter, your role will be to build and assemble complex special purpose machinery from drawings provided by the designers based on site. These machines are invariably 'built to order', so as such, your days will vary greatly dependant on the current work cycle you are entering. Essentially you will be undertaking the majority of the below tasks on a daily basis:

- Build and assemble sub-systems ready for final incorporation to machinery
- Set up and test assembled systems ready for factory acceptance testing
- Carry out quality checks routinely to ensure the standards for the build and met and exceeded
- Assembled the finished machines from drawings

Ideally you will be qualified to at least HND/C&G in a related engineering discipline, or have completed a time-served Mechanical apprenticeship as part of your training. A background in machinery build and assembly is essential, as you will be working in smalls teams and allocated tasks to complete as part of the wider build. Day to day, you will require knowledge of:

- Mechanical hand fitting
- Bearings and shaft fitting
- Marking out, tapping, drilling and of light/medium metals
- Pneumatic and hydraulic assembly
- Some welding, fabrication and machining (not essential)

Although salaried, you will be given ample opportunity to supplement your income with overtime during the week and weekends, along with an excellent benefits package.
