We are recruiting for an Inclusion Mentor to work in a local High School.

Overall Purpose:

To develop, implement and lead strategies and extra support for students to raise self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
To work with teaching colleagues to plan and deliver targeted support to raise achievement, attendance and overcome barriers to learningResponsibilities:

Mentor small groups of students who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning
Lead small groups of students in specific alternative provision activities
Support students whilst they access alternative provisions
Assist with identifying needs and assessing those students who require extra support
Develop individual action plans for targeted students
Support the reintegration of students following an alternative timetable
Provide students with advice and guidance on learning and development
Assist students with study skills, revision and examination techniques
Collect and pass on any completed work
Maintain accurate student records and prepare written reports and evaluations
Develop innovative approaches to parental communication and engagement with parents to give constructive feedback on student progress/achievement, to facilitate progression in subjects and attendance at support sessions linked to subjects
Support the development of partnerships with other agencies
Oversee the day to day running of the school's Internal Exclusion Unit
Support restorative meetings between colleagues and students
Cover in Remove when needed
Accompany groups of students on school tripsGENERAL INFORMATION:

All work performed/duties undertaken must be carried out in accordance with relevant policies and procedures

CONTEXT:

Due to the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of Criminal Record Disclosure to be undertaken. It is essential that you disclose whether you have any pending charges, convictions, bindovers or cautions and if so, for which offences.

This post will be exempt from the provisions of Section 4, (2), of the Rehabilitation of Offenders 1974 (exemptions) (Amendments) Order 1986. Therefore, you are not entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. Any failure to disclose such convictions will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Academy.

Criteria:

Experience of working in a support capacity with young people either in small groups or one-to-one

Experience of implementing relevant learning programmes

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline

5 GCSEs (A* to C) including English and Maths or equivalent NVQ Level 2
