Director of Procurement - Devices and External Testing, Business Partner for PT&D and Quality to join Operations Procurement, Global Procurement. The position will be located at one of AstraZeneca's dynamic sites in Macclesfield UK, Gartuna, Sweden; or Gaithersburg, US. As AstraZeneca launches the Growth Through Innovation strategy we have created a Procurement group that will have responsibility for the value chain from late stage development through to drug manufacture and distribution to patients. The new structure is designed to help us build on a proud legacy of operational excellence, and ensure we are positioned to continue to deliver more life-changing medicines for patients.As one of a team of Procurement Directors you will be a senior leader and member of the Procurement leadership team and reporting to the Global Head of Procurement, Operations. You will lead a family of categories, provide line management and leadership to Procurement professionals and will be a key partner to a specific area of Operations. You will apply your Procurement and business knowledge and experience to generate strategic direction for the function and deliver excellence in business partnering in the medium and long term. You will also lead groundbreaking projects on a regional or global basis.Typical Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesStrategy:Accountable for developing a strategic approach to the corporate procurement and material management process for the procurement of direct/indirect goods and services for both Development and Commercial supply.Ensuring supply chain security for Devices and External Testing, and also Clinical Supply chains across the whole project/product portfolio. Embed excellence in category management across all the categories within remit, region or market including sourcing, cost management, contract management, Supplier Collaboration & Innovation, supplier relationship and development management, and commodity price risk management (CPRM).Deliver the annual financial and non-financial targets for the portfolio regionally or globally, including cost savings.Accountable for security of supply and brand protection and risk and governance within their portfolio.Be responsible for the full results of all the portfolio contract negotiations, achieving the given KPIs, quality and TCO targets, and actively find opportunities, contribute and improve the TCO.Develop long term strategic plans for the entire spend area within the portfolio (including overarching accountability for sub-category and national plans within any given category).Leadership:Accountable for leading the team, resources, and category targets through direct reports. Lead overall portfolio and all direct reports performance globally.Leads, Coaches and develops professional aspects of Procurement team membersKeeping within One Procurement Operating Model 2019; decide how categories will be managed globally, regionally, locally to ensure high performance outcomes across the portfolio.Establishing and developing a team by attracting high calibre talent from within and outside the organization and providing appropriate opportunities and supportMentoring and take a strong interest in the career development of Procurement staffBusiness & Supplier Engagement:Develop and communicate a procurement portfolio strategy; establish, communicate and implement long-term goals for the portfolio in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency in both commercial and clinical supply chains and supporting the development lead-time objective.Ensures that Category Strategies are highly aligned to current and future Business need and that the supply base is capable of supporting these strategiesDeliver benefits within sourcing, cost management, supplier relationship management, supplier development and innovation.Lead governance within the portfolio ensuring commercial decisions are aligned with the overall business strategy and up/downstream partnersConduct annual peer reviews of category, region or market strategies with the PLTMaintain a forward-looking portfolio activity plan which clearly defines the sourcing, cost management, SRM / SD projects going forward that will get the best results YoY.Ensure that the underpinning process improvement and procurement activities deliver the expected business value in accordance with the strategic plans.Instill the highest standards of compliance and ethics consistently across AZEssentialDegree or Masters Degree level qualificationSignificant procurement experienceStrategic Management experienceExperience of people managementLeading multi-disciplinary teamsAbility to communicate and negotiate with senior management teamProven ability to manage changeSignificant cross-industry and cross-category experienceDesirableUnderstanding of multiple aspects of procurement processAstraZeneca is an equal opportunity employer.
