Interim Finance Director

Star Live was recently formed from the merger of four established and well-respected businesses in the event world; Star Events, Mobile Promotions, Beautiful Minds and BluePeg. This has given them the opportunity to offer their clients added value and complementary services in a rapidly evolving event landscape.

Position: Interim Finance Director
Location: Based between two offices, Bedford & Thrapston
Job type: Fixed Term Contract - 6-month project
Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00am - 5:30pm
Salary: £300 - £350 per day

Start Date: September 2019

About the role:

Due to the recent merger, Star Live are looking for an Interim Finance Director to lead and deliver the business integration, corporate re-structuring and project management to allow the separate companies to come together and run seamlessly as one business. This will include, but not be limited to, providing expert reporting & analysis, implementing efficient processes and working with the business owners on financial strategies.


- Establishing and maintaining an accurate, efficient and well controlled overall accounting processes and information for the integrated business.
- Working with the leadership team to develop business strategies and long-term business plans.
- Providing trusted, approachable expert support and advice on financial and commercial matters.
- Actively manage the system of financial and management accounting and reporting.
- Monitoring financial performance of major live projects and programs.
- Researching and integrating new IT and ERP systems.
- Aligning the legal structure of the group with the operating structure.
- Liaising with auditors to manage the production of year end accounts and the audit process.
- Overseeing the preparation of any R&D tax claims.
- Managing compliance with systems, such as ISO 9001 & ISO 14001.

About you:

- Professionally qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience.
- A minimum of 2 years' FD experience.
- Proven experience of business integration and re-structuring.
- Experience in the production of annual statutory accounts.
- Knowledge of UK VAT from a practical perspective as well as an awareness of overseas VAT implications and reporting requirements.
- Experience as user of an integrated ERP system.
- Knowledge of R&D tax claims.
- Professional approach coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
- Commercially minded, understanding the purpose and usefulness of financial information for business decision making.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks as well as manage own workload.
- Excellent IT knowledge, including Microsoft packages.
