We are seeking a Fuel Chemist to conduct fascinating and challenging work which frequently results in giving evidence as expert witness in arbitration and court hearings.

The Company is a major independent consultancy based in the United Kingdom and operating worldwide.
Fuel Chemist - The Role
• You will be expected to travel occasionally to visit sites, laboratories and facilities all over the world in order to ascertain the nature, cause and extent of problems and to gather evidence.
• Problems vary from crude oil, finished petroleum products, multi-grade shipments, vegetable oil, liquid chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The problems can range from delivery of 'off-specification' petroleum products to the major contamination of high value chemical shipments.
• You will be expected to take control of investigations and you must be prepared to remain on site for some time, depending upon the case requirements.
• Often, you will be required to witness laboratory testing to ensure it is conducted correctly.
• For a large proportion of your time, you will be office-based and required to provide scientific and technical opinions to clients based on documentary evidence and reports.
• When not travelling, you will also be required to provide scientific and technical opinions to clients based on documentary evidence and reports, as well as fielding various enquiries from clients.
• You will also be expected to actively engage with marketing, attending functions and giving talks on various subjects.
• Full training on a wide range of areas will be provided to the successful candidate
• The successful applicant must be someone who will accept constructive criticism and quickly learn from it.
Fuel Chemist - The Candidate
• You should have a degree or higher in a relevant chemistry related subject with a minimum of 3 years laboratory experience in a petroleum/petrochemical testing laboratory and a strong technical understanding of GC, IR and wet chemical techniques.
• Industry experience within the oil & gas, petroleum and/or petrochemical sectors would be an advantage
• You should have a wide-ranging science interest and knowledge
• You must be an adaptable, motivated and dynamic person with a track record of conducting rigorous science and an ability to provide succinct and reliable reports with good quality written English.
