Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Senior Commercial Category Manager to join our expanding team across the DVSA. The DVSA are transforming their Procurement and Contract Management teams and moving to a Category Management approach. You can be based in either of our Bristol, Nottingham or Swansea offices and will primarily be responsible for providing DVSA operations within an exemplar commercial experience, leading on the delivery of a Commercial Category and introducing the concept and efficiency benefits of the Category Management approach to the business.

You will receive support from the Head of Category Management and have the chance to create positive working relationships across the whole of DVSA.

Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

• Developing, planning and delivering management and continuous improvement of at least one commercial category.
• Providing a commercial guidance and advice to the business in relation to a category or categories.
• Supporting the leadership team in the embedding of the DVSA commercial strategy and category management approach.
• Delivering commercial activity across one or more categories.
• Building close relationships with business owners to ensure business needs and commercial objectives are met.

About You

We are looking for a proficient Commercial Category Manager with experience of the commercial cycle including pre-competitive supplier engagement, supplier selection, tender evaluations, contract award and ongoing contract management. You will hold fantastic interpersonal qualities, demonstrating your ability to develop excellent working relationships within a professional environment. You will also ideally be experienced in public sector procurement along with possessing working knowledge of operating in a category management environment.
