An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Team Leader to join Milestones Trust. We are a not-for-profit charitable organisation with a 33 year history of offering person-centered support to vulnerable people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia.

Based at Greengates you will be responsible for encouraging and supporting service users to define and develop their chosen lifestyles through personal centered care in our residential services.

Greengates is a 15 bedded home for residents with enduring mental health needs. We support people to be as independent as they are able to be, living their life in the way they choose, using a person centred approach to enable individualized recovery programmes for each person living at the service. Every day is different and you will be needed for a diverse range of support, from assisting people with personal care to supporting people to participate in activities at home and in the community, such as swimming, church and bingo.

Role, Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

THE ROLE: As Assistant Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

·Encouraging and enabling service users to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health.

·Support people to maximise their independence and choice to develop social and life skills through daily living activities.

·To be able to lone work support people to meet their goals/ aspirations in the community setting and share the values and principles of positive behavioral support.

·Organising the shift in the absence of the manager

YOU: The successful Assistant Team Leader will:

·Experience of supporting people in a community setting with on-going mental health difficulties.

·Experience of using person centre strategies.

·Have the ability to lead a busy shift confidently

·Be willing to learn and adapt to new challenges.

·Be able to confidently and accurately dispense medication.

·Have the ability to work well under pressure.

·Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, service users and a range of stakeholders.

·Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature
