Westray Recruitment Consultants is recruiting a Maintenance Fitter to maintain and oversee the mechanical maintenance of a high volume, manufacturing plant encapsulating all machinery and plant facilities.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE?

  • Maintain the effectiveness of all guarding and safety devices implemented by the company.
  • Liaise and support all sub-contractors that work on site, especially with regards to company Health and Safety controls and guidance.
  • Wherever possible to use a preventative system of maintenance.
  • Fully engage in the culture of continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, or highlighting cost saving ideas with plant or machinery.
  • Engage in all Environmental procedures on site and take part in the monitoring and recording of such.
  • Report any misuse of machinery or abuse of any Safety system, or damage to the fabric of the site to the Maintenance Coordinator / Site Manager.


WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION?

  • Must be well organised, able to prioritise and multi task in a demanding environment.
  • Be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work alongside and interact with other operatives or departments.
  • Possess practical knowledge of Health and Safety statutes and be able to translate to the shop floor.
  • A good knowledge of Fabrication and Mig Welding essential.
  • A good Knowledge of Pneumatics and Hydraulics needed.
  • Basic use of Lathe, Vertical Miller and Surface Grinder essential.
  • Press Tool maintenance knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Flexibility in terms of hours is essential, as this role may involve working unsociable hours as and when required.
  • Previous experience of working with subcontractors/contractors is desirable.
  • Previous mechanical experience is essential.


WHAT ARE THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR ROLE?

This role will typically centre's on day shift hours of 6am-2pm Monday to Friday.

On occasions, in periods of peak production, applicants are asked to be flexible to incorporate a back shift 2pm-10pm. There is also readily available overtime available with this role. This position will commence with a temp to perm transfer after 12 weeks.

WHAT SALARY PACKAGE YOU WILL BE RECEIVING

£12.50 per hour basic wage. Additional shift allowance payments for any back-shift work. Overtime is time & 1/3 during the week, time & ½ Saturday and double time Sunday
