Independent, well established business in Canterbury are looking for an Accounts Manager to join their friendly team. A local success story that have been in business for over 50 years.

The Accounts Manager will report to the Head of Finance and have responsibility for leading the team, producing accounts to trial balance stage, and supporting with Month End/Year End process.

Detailed duties of the Accounts Manager include;
  • Managing a team of 3 staff, allocating work to ensure that all tasks are completed and within deadline
  • Carrying out Month End process and Year End process to trial balance stage
  • Oversee the weekly payment run for compilation and authorisation.
  • Oversee payroll for weekly and monthly paid staff including month end journals. Able to cover for Payroll Administrator
  • VAT, ensuring returns are compiled on time, accurately and that the payment is entered on time for authorisation
  • Reconciliation of stock once a year
  • Industry specific regulatory returns
  • Daily cashflow report to ensure an accurate cash position.
  • Weekly Cashflow and Debtor meetings to ensure cash is managed effectively and all debt chasing is under control/up to date.
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of the accounts systems, ensuring the accurate posting of invoices and payments
  • Carry out the Year End adjustments and reconciliations, preparing the accounts system to enable year end accounts to be compiled
  • Regular analysis including profitability, breakeven, productivity, labour efficiency etc
  • Carry out analysis as required on a regular basis
  • Governing the Accounting system
  • Ensuring that all of the business needs are met for the day to day requirements within the Finance department.

In order to apply, the Accounts Manager must be able to demonstrate;
  • Confidence/experience of supervising or managing a team
  • Intermediate Excel skills - to Pivot, VLOOKUP, SUMIF level
  • Extensive experience in an accounts team covering a broad role
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment
  • Able to problem solve, use initiative
