My client is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant on a temporary basis initially, with a potential opportunity for the role to permanent.

The Accounts Assistant will report to Financial Accountant.

They will have responsibility for helping to maintain the completeness and accuracy of the actual financial results.

The successful candidate must have a 'can do' attitude and be prepared to roll their sleeves up and address what needs to done at the time, typical of a small business. In addition, all members of the team are expected to play a full and active role and provide ideas and support to assist the company to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting:
  • Processing sales and purchases transactions to the relevant accounting ledgers accurately and on time;
  • Help to close specific financial ledgers during each month end (GL, AR, AP, etc.) accurately and on time;
  • Reconciliation of the company credit card account
  • Processing of staff expenses
  • Processing supplier payments - mainly international payments in multiple currencies and across multiple platforms (this is currently a large part of the role).
  • Assist the Financial Accountant in performing reconciliations between the Reservations System financial information and the accounts.
  • Assist the Financial Accountant with the maintenance of the Fixed Assets ledger.
  • Assist the Financial Accountant to analyse certain accounts so they comment on what the "Actual" results mean in the monthly Management Accounts;
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports on behalf of the Financial Accountant and Head of Finance;
  • Assist the Financial Accountant with specific tasks on an as needed basis

?Cash Management:
  • Assist the Financial with the oversight and management of daily cash requirements as needed
  • Provide inputs into the cash forecast on an as needed basis

Governance:
  • Process financial data into Quickbooks and make sure the data is recorded accurately;
  • Help complete monthly account reconciliations for certain Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts including petty cash and daily reconciliation of bank accounts.
  • Assistance with preparing VAT returns.

Skills Required
  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar role. May be AAT Qualified or working towards an accounting qualification
  • Graduates with 6-12months experience will be considered
  • A good understanding of Quickbooks would be advantageous but full training will be given.
  • Knowledge of other accounting systems such as Sage is desirable
  • Knowledge of Excel to a minimum of intermediate level including PivotTables
  • Has an interest in travel and/or a desire to understand the nuts and bolts of the company
  • A team player who is willing to operate cross functionally and get into the details of the accounts

Hours:
  • Hours of work - 09:00 - 17:30 hours, Mon to Thursday, 09:00 - 17:00 Friday, and exceptionally over weekends and evenings (e.g. if working at an event).
