POSITION: Carer (Care Assistant)
SALARY: £9.75 Per hour
BENEFITS: Uniform, excellent training, staff pension scheme
HOURS: Full time (36 hours per week) and shifts are varied Monday to Sunday.

DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a private residential care home for the elderly in Walton-On-The Hill. They are looking for a reliable conscientious, caring and enthusiastic Carer (care assistant)

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS
  • Holding or working towards a level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Either holding the Common Induction Standards/Care Certificate or prepared to work towards the Care Certificate
  • To have good spoken and written English skills
  • To be physically and mentally able to complete expected duties
  • To be kind, caring and compassionate at all times

ACCOUNTABLE AND REPORTING TO
  • The Registered Owner and Registered Manager. Reporting to the senior on Duty

OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • To assist in providing a high quality service for residents, families and friends, all other visitors and colleagues
  • To deliver individualised care to residents as directed by each residents' Person Centred Care Plan (PCCP)
  • To report changes or concerns to Matron or the most senior staff member on duty

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with the Code of Conduct - Skills for Care/Skills for Health
  • Adhere to safeguarding procedures and follow the whistleblowing procedure if necessary.
  • Assist residents in maintaining their personal hygiene, dressing, undressing and grooming, while promoting independence and choice
  • To work in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act (2005) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Respect the residents' privacy at all times
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff
  • Maintain and keep records as appropriate on each shift, in line with the General Data Protection Regulations 2016
  • Use equipment and aids (eg pressure care and manual handling aids) as appropriate and directed in the resident' PCCPs
  • Assist with serving meals in the dining room or provide trays in residents' rooms as needed and assist with feeding as needed
  • Assist with feeding residents as needed
  • To maintain a neat, tidy and professional appearance.
  • To be punctual and reliable

PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • Listen and respond to residents, families, friends, other visitors and colleagues appropriately and in a positive manner
  • To work under the direction of the senior to ensure that the needs of the residents are met
  • To act in a professional manner and be courteous at all times
  • To respect confidentiality and consent

CONTINUING DEVELOPMENT
  • To complete the Care Certificate once commencing employment
  • To undertake all compliance training
  • To participate in additional continual professional development opportunities when appropriate, in order to maintain and develop skills
  • To attend regular, formal supervision sessions and annual appraisal
