Senior BI Modelling Manager - Hove - £75k plus excellent benefits

Your new role

The Senior Business Information Modelling Manager (SBIMM), will provide Technical Data management and modelling expertise across the Business Technology and Transformation (BT&T) teams to ensure correct data management practices and solutions are implemented in line with Business Architecture strategy and delivery plans developed in partnership with Business Technology Partners and associated Business Architects and analysts.

The SBIMM will provide oversight and assurance that effective Data Delivery plans are produced. The SBIMM will participate in evolving Data architecture models, methodologies, processes, tools to drive maximum value in the delivery of effective practices, design and controls across (BT&T).BT&T.

Responsible for leading initiatives central to developing a robust Division/Group-wide understanding of data from a business perspective. Acting as an important bridge between business strategy and technical execution, the SBIMM supports several key priorities of the Director - Chief Data Science and the Group IT Strategy Director, including contributing to the management and governance of the Group's Data Domain framework and the Group Reference Data Strategy.

Principal accountabilities:

  • To be accountable for strategic technical analysis in order to define data strategies, standards and structures for the division, thereby providing control of all data structures and data strategies for all platforms, to enable confidence in the current and future integrity of their data
  • Utilise expert technical knowledge of data design techniques and tools to support the methodical investigation, analysis and critical review of all data usage points in terms of business reporting functions, systems, processes to ensure robust and innovative design of data architectures
  • Actively participate and direct the conception, planning and design of strategic projects to ensure that initiatives are impacted and where appropriate conflict or compromises are escalated to ensure the alignment with the Business & IT Strategies.
  • Define, establish and maintain a complete, accurate and reliable meta data model/repositories of all data structures and strategies across the Divisions management and operational platforms to support the evaluation, definition and coordination of the provision of data to meet the needs of the strategic needs of the division
  • Work closely with the Solvency II, Actuarial, and Mortality analysts to ensure data requirements for Liability Reporting, Pricing and Longevity Analysis can be met with robust processes to deliver accurate and timely data Supports the ownership, management and governance of the Division/Group 's Business Data Modelling (Data Domain framework) and ensures the identification and embedding of Data Domains that represent the business view of data
  • Work with senior client/user management to defining data strategies, drawing up requirements specifications, conducting feasibility studies, producing high level and detailed business models, which will have a measurable impact on the profitability and effectiveness of the division
  • Develop and maintain key business data architectural standards and guidance materials including Data Lineage, Authoritative Data Sources, Data Domains and Reference Data whilst producing concise documentation to summarise and convey key Business Data Modelling concepts to stakeholders and colleagues
  • To take the lead in all matters with regard to the management of employees, ensuring that management discretion is used in a consistent manner and that the area follows the Group's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance.
  • Ensure that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into your day to day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times. Ensure that all business processes and internal controls within your role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk

What you'll need to succeed


  • Degree and/or MBA educated- desirable but not essential or suitable comparable/demonstrable role experience and capability at this level.
  • Architecture, Prince2, Project management and/or Agile qualifications - desirable but not essential.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Data Architecture roadmap creation and transitioning planning to support business Architecture and technology plans and sequencing
  • Experience of driving and implementing consistent data designs and roadmaps across complex geographical / functional matrix organizations in line with Architecture functions and roadmaps
  • Proven track record of Data architecture support to effective delivery of large, complex, change and technology initiatives
  • Experience of managing effective relationships to ensure appropriate technologies are leveraged and implemented


  • Ensuring Data Architecture strategy and planning confidence across all levels with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently focusing on priorities, and managing a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Collaborative worker who freely shares their knowledge and experience
  • Effective at making good decisions and delivering great outcomes in in line with BT&T strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence a broad range of individuals across various internal and external businesses and support functions
