Overview

Using the novel technology of phase only holography, Our client is developing an industry leading Augmented Reality Head Up Display which will revolutionise the in-vehicle experience.

The first product launched with their technology has now exceeded 200,000 units in production and appears in many Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. This generation 1 laser holographic Head Up Display, (HUD), has paved the way in proving the technology's use in a mass production product.

Our client is currently looking to hire a Product Manufacturing Director, whose responsibilities will be focuses around directing a team of both internal and external manufacturing engineers to produce a high-volume automotive grade opto-electronic product from a prototype design.

Responsibilities

  • To direct a team of both internal and external manufacturing engineers to produce a complex automotive grade opto-electronic product capable of being manufactured in high volume production.
  • To work very closely with both the R&D Director and the Program Director to take the product from concept design to full volume production design in line with automotive tier 1 and OEM customer requirements.
  • Proven ability to work with external contract design partners or to recruit internal design engineers / team to achieve the project goals.
  • Provide hands-on technical and organizational leadership and mentoring to the cross-function, distributed Engineering team
  • Lead multi-disciplinary team of Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Systems development teams and Product Validation, Certification and Configuration Management functions
  • Plan and allocate appropriate engineering resources for projects and provide scheduling, man-power, asset allocation, budgets and estimates to complete programs by deadline
  • Work closely with Product Management and Global Leadership to define product strategy and requirements
  • Establish Product engineering department goals, objectives, performance metrics, and initiatives to support corporate objectives.
  • Ensure an engaged, innovative, and inspiring working environment which is maintained by motivating, challenging, and coaching for personal development.
  • Identify and take advantage of new manufacturing technologies to produce best in class product at the most cost-effective price point
  • Define and drive accountability, consistency, quality, standardization and compliance across product design to ensure regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain internal design review and release processes in line with standard automotive grade practices and procedures.
  • Lead, train and support the team, to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Perform regular reviews with team members according the company's guidelines.
  • Review and improve standards, best practices and procedures on a regular basis

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Design Engineering, Manufacturing engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 7 Years in electrical or software development
  • Minimum 7 years in Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive Engineering environment
  • 7+ years track record of leading cross-functional Engineering organizations, developing leading automotive products in competitive markets
  • Knowledge of 6-sigma tools and practices
  • Experience with project estimating and planning, bases of estimate
  • Scrum and sprint techniques for development
  • Design tools, e.g. SolidWorks, Altium, C++, LINUX
  • Manpower planning and resourcing
  • ISO14001/9001, IATF/TS16949 processes
