Our plans to add to this portfolio continue apace regionally and nationally. We are looking for talented people to join our Swindon Highways team to work on complex highways and transportation schemes requiring a multi-disciplinary approach, with Senior Highways Engineers playing a pivotal role in the delivery of individual elements of the wider overall scheme. As such, you will be a key participant in the team who will assist in the delivery of projects and project deliverables focusing on technical delivery including alignment, drainage, pavement and accommodation works. You will be required to regularly interface with other disciplines, such as geotechnical, structures, environmental and traffic, building on your experience in differing aspects of engineering and enabling you to fully demonstrate and develop your technical and project management skills. You will have strong communications and presentation skills, the ability to write for technical and non-technical audiences, and you will be enthusiastic about laying the foundations for a career in highways engineering. Responsibilities would include: Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work with and lead a team of engineers and technicians working on a variety of projects. Preparing and leading aspects of the design development using software including Bentley MXROAD, Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Microdrainage. Resolving technical issues as they occur for a range of areas across the project and for the monitoring of progress. Assist in the preparation of contract documents, administering tender processes, assessing tenders and dealing with scheme procurements; Writing technical reports as well as other reports for non-technical audiences, such as public consultation reports; Visiting site locations, reviewing scheme designs, addressing environmental and design challenges collaboratively with our clients and internally with other Jacobs disciplines; Assisting and training more junior colleagues and learning from more senior colleagues. #UKHighways Essential: An accredited Civil BEng (Honours) Engineering Degree (NFQ level 8 and above) or equivalent Chartered Engineer Excellent written and oral communication Excellent literacy and numerical skills Flexible and capable of working on a variety of projects, sometimes simultaneously Enthusiastic approach to team working. Strong attention to detail Focus on results and project delivery Detailed knowledge of DMRB or equivalent road design standards Previous design experience in the highways industry Knowledge of industry design software (Bentley MXROAD/ Civil 3D/ AutoCAD/ Microdrainage or equivalent) Desirable: Knowledge of different contract types and procurement options.
