Apprentice Systems Engineer in Aberdeen (Bridge of Don)

The Opportunity

GP Strategies are delighted to be working with our client in Aberdeen with the recruitment and training of an Apprentice Systems Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunities for school, college and university leavers who are based in the Aberdeen area and are keen to kick-start a career within the IT Sector. As well as entering full-time employment with a leading organisation, the successful candidates will be given the chance to earn as they learn; fully-funded for those aged 16 to 24, you will undertake an exciting IT Apprenticeship programme that leads to the achievement of a nationally recognised IT Diploma and Microsoft Technical certifications.

The Role

The business provides 24/7/365 support and you will be offered the opportunity to participate in the on-call rota once fully proficient in your duties. In order to minimise disruption to clients, there will be periodic evening and weekend work from time to time. Any work out with normal working hours, paid at an overtime rate.

·Full Time Monday - Friday 37.5Hrs

From Datacentre to Desktop, the business provides ICT, Telecom and ISP services across Scotland and an opportunity has arisen to join the Technical Support team at the Aberdeen Head Office.

As an Apprentice Systems Engineer you will be involved in a comprehensive ICT portfolio covering Hosted and On-Premise Solutions across multiple business partners. The business has a unique portfolio which allows it to provide Hosted IT and Telephony Services which are fully supported from Datacentre to Desktop.

Working as a key member of the technical team, you will be involved in the following:

·Remote Support to clients across Scotland from the Aberdeen support helpdesk

·Own IT support queries full-cycle to learn and build your knowledge and capability

·Provide on-site support when required

·Configuring and installing IT, Telecom (including VOIP) and Connectivity solutions

·Specialist project work from planning to delivery on-site

To be considered for this role you must have the following essential skills:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

·Be willing to learn and not afraid of asking for help when required

·Have an overarching hunger to succeed within an IT role at a leading business in this field

A full driving licence is required as you will be travelling to client sites (if you have not yet passed your test then you should be working towards passing in 2019) and due to the nature of some clients the role will be subject to PVG checks.
