The role will form part of their procurement team, supporting Bids and Programmes, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement, and executing effective procurement strategies that lead to winning of profitable and efficient new business.

This role represents an opportunity to influence organisational growth, through work on external customer bids, providing procurement and supply chain expertise and strategy, from conception through to delivery.

About your new role

The role is accountable for the ownership and execution of the subcontracting plan, incorporating preparation of the procurement strategy and documents, sourcing, data collection and analysis and, managing communication with suppliers and internal customers.

Managing prime contractor interfaces, risk mitigation (i.e. flow-up/down arrangements within prime contract) and flexibility within supply chain, including, supplier sourcing and selection through the make or buy process and appropriate leverage to deliver improvement, quality, performance, innovation and cost reduction.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Direct customer campaigns, projects and programmes.
  • Building of strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on best practice sourcing to the organisation.
  • Ensuring the provision of accurate cost information for bidding purposes.
  • Keep up-to-date about customers' needs and expectations.
  • Bid management to include development of sourcing strategy, stakeholder mapping and engagement, bid solicitation, contract negotiation and award, and on-going supplier governance.
  • Execution of sourcing plans, especially implementation of change programs involving new suppliers or spend practice.
  • Sourcing of one-off, high value goods and services.
  • Reporting against targets within Procurement and the business.

About you
  • Previous experience in a similar role within Defence or Engineering environments
  • Proven contract negotiation skills
  • Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • CIPS Qualified desirable, or working towards
  • Open to occasional travel as required
