My Client are looking to take on a Clinical Team Leader, the work will be based at their refurbished site set in beautiful surroundings.

The ideal candidate will report to the Hospital Director

Role Summary:

The post holder will have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and mental health illness.

The post holder will take responsibility for ensuring the effective planning, delivery and evaluation of care to all patients under the aegis of the Mental Health Act and informal status within the hospital and community

The post holder will line manage, lead and co-ordinate clinical staff, working to maximise the effective use of resources and ensuring best clinical practice, delivery, treatment, support and care in an environment that is conducive to healing and recovery.

The post holder will be expected to act and practice always within the framework of company policy and professional codes of conduct, and to guide the practice of others in this respect.

Participate in the organisation mission to develop an elite team and support champion roles within the organisation.

The post holder will act always in accordance with my clients ethos and philosophy, positively promoting this within the team.

The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties and roles:

Patient Care:
Oversee the planning, delivery and evaluation of care, working within the frameworks of professional governing bodies, statutory requirements and the expectations of regulatory authorities. Ensure that care is delivered in accordance with best practice, evidence based and to the highest standard.

Practice within the framework of my clients policies and procedures, ensuring that the planning and delivery of care is patient centred and that work is undertaken with patients in a spirit of openness and collaboration.

Ability to undertake safe medication administration practices, audit of clinical stock and ensure all documentation adheres to statutory requirements.

Mentor junior nurses in safe practice and administration of medicines management

Ensure the standards of the clinic environment is maintained in line with company standards.

Direct the work of junior staff, ensuring that there is consistency and cohesion in the delivery of care to each patient and that work is undertaken in accordance with the agreed plan of treatment and care, paying due regard to 1 above.

Ensure that all plans of care and risk assessments, updates and evaluations are communicated to the wider multi-disciplinary team, ensuring continuity of approach.

Ensure that all plans of care, progress notes, and other elements of the Health Record are completed in a cogent, timely, comprehensive and intelligent manner.

Ensure all reports for the purposes of CPA, MHRT, Managers Meetings and section 117 reviews are completed to a standard expected by Milestones and in the expected time frames.

Attend and lead where necessary case conferences and review meetings ensuring good liaison with referring clinical teams and smooth discharge planning.

Responsibility for safeguarding processes being carried out in line with legal frameworks and local protocols.

Complaints processes will be supported through company protocol

Act at all times in line within my clients policy and professional codes of conduct.

Staff Leadership

Ensure that all staff are aware and clearly directed to the treatment and management plans for each patient.

Ensure that all staff are comfortable and competent with the work that they are asked to undertake, offering support, instruction and supervision as required.

Ensure appropriate delegation of housekeeping activities and other identified tasks that maintain a clean and homely environment, within the parameters of health and safety and hospital policy.

Lead and direct the clinical team in all areas pertaining to the clinical and operational requirements of the organisation through demonstration of good practice, relevant training and induction programmes

To undertake appraisal and supervisions to junior staff,

Actively promote an environment conducive to learning, supporting the development of personal and professional growth including revalidation requirements, mentorships and preceptorship processes.

To competently deputise for the Hospital Manager in their absence

To respond proactively to any enquiries to potential referrers. Ensure the facilitation of visits to Milestones, providing information and completing initial assessments.

To lead on an area of specific interest and competency supporting the needs of the organisation in ensuring quality assurance and CQC Key Line of Enquiry (KLOES).

Participate in the organisation mission to develop an elite team and support champion roles within the organisation.

Personal Development:
Develop skills knowledge base and awareness in respect of issues relating to mental health illness in line with NICE Guidelines and good practice.

Actively participate in own appraisal process, seeking feedback from others and identifying areas of strength and potential for development.

Participate in the process of clinical supervision as a means of reflective practice; to enhance personal and professional development and effective delivery of patient care.

To maintain a current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

To comply with NMC requirements for revalidation every three years: this will require, (among other measures), obtaining practice-based feedback, reflective discussions, written self-reflections on practice, and obtaining confirming evidence of continued adherence to the NMC codes of practice from a health care professional, normally the line manager. Whilst responsibility for revalidation rests with the individual practitioner, the service will support him/her to achieve this as far as possible


Actively participate and report to operational and clinical meetings and disseminate relevant information back to the staff team as required

Participate in the system of clinical audit

Participate in the Health and Safety monitoring systems

Ensure compliance is maintained in line with infection control standards

Participate in the documentation and collation of data required for quality assurance processes, legal and statuary frameworks and evidence-based practice

Promptly report and address any activities, behaviour or incidences that compromise the health, wellbeing and safety of individuals and/or the organisation

Participate in HR processes to manage staffing resources

Ensure CQC requirements and standards are met demonstrating continuous improvements by evidencing good practice in line with company standards

Undertake any other reasonable duty as requested by the Management team

Person Specification Qualifications

Diploma/Degree in Mental Health Nursing

A minimum of 2 Year post registration experience of working in a specialist mental health setting

Experience of working within the guidance of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007)

Knowledge base of current Health and Safety legislation pertinent to hospital setting.

Experience of lone working • Undertake shared responsibility of on call duties

Experience of leading/co-ordinating junior staff

Good literacy and numeracy skills

Experience of conducting supervision and appraisals to clinical and ancillary staff

Further training/qualifications relating to job role and evidence of professional development

To comply with NMC requirements for revalidation every three year
