What is the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be fully accountable for building an inclusive and high performing team, encompassing multiple disciplines and departments, with an emphasis on maximising efficiencies to achieve optimum plant performance.

Focusing on the mechanical rotating plant assets of the power plant, some of your other accountabilities will include;

-Management of works to ensure a safe working environment;

-Technical governance & guidance for your plant area;

-Delivery of compliance with legislation and industry best practice;

-Management of Projects;

-Delivery of an effective outage strategy;

-Optimising the maintenance strategy to meet with the needs of our customers / stakeholders;

-Leading root cause analysis and engineering solutions to defects;

-Driving innovation to achieve improvements in plant performance;

-Contract management of strategic suppliers and management of our Contract Strategy;

-Budget Management

What do I need?

We are looking for someone who has operated in a similar role in the electricity or comparable engineering industry. Ideally, you'll be educated to degree level in a mechanical discipline or similar, however we will consider candidates who hold an HND qualification with extensive demonstrable experience.

Due to the size and nature of this role, your background should encompass the following;

-In-depth operational knowledge of large rotating plant such as Gas Turbines & Steam Turbines along with major outages.

-Budget Management

-Contract Management and negotiation

-Contract legislation

-Operational strategy

-Regulation and legislation relating to health and safety of mechanical systems.

-People leadership and evidence of successfully managing teams.

Good communication skills will also be essential, and most importantly you'll have a passion for safety and successful delivery against key stakeholder requirements.
